Executive Coaching and Leadership Coaching
Today’s leaders, managers,
and professionals face tougher challenges than ever before. Not only must
they be more knowledgeable in their jobs, they must also be more skilled in
dealing with the everyday challenges of managing others and interacting with
people at all levels in their organizations. At the same time, rapid
changes, conflicting priorities and expectations, and increasing pressure to
get results create enormous strain on people to maintain a work-life
balance. As a result, those in leadership positions who want to increase
their effectiveness in their professional and personal lives turn to an
executive or leadership coach to help them reach a higher level of
performance and personal satisfaction. Coaching encourages people to do
more than they ever imagined they could.
If you find yourself in the situation just described, then read on to find
out how you can benefit from working with a coach.
Coaching is a one-on-one collaborative professional relationship that helps
you get results.
Coaching is designed to help you gain greater competence and confidence and
overcome barriers to improving performance. The goal of coaching is to move
you from where you are to where you want to be. Coaching builds on your
strengths and reframes negative situations so that you can eliminate
self-limiting thinking and behaviors and become the high-potential,
high-performing person you want to be.
A coach is not a psychotherapist, counselor, mentor, or consultant. The
coach challenges, listens, remains objective, offers support and
encouragement, and maintains confidentiality. A coach helps you focus on the
present and the future. A coach helps you to define your goals, dreams,
passion, and vision. A coach also helps you identify your strengths and
opportunities for learning and growth, assists you in setting concrete,
measurable goals, and works with you to create and execute an action plan
that gets the results you want. A coach leads you through a process of
self-discovery and self-directed problem-solving. Above all, a coach pushes
you to stretch and to achieve and holds you accountable.
Depending on what you want to accomplish, by working with a coach, you can
expect to…
Professional Growth
Increase your performance and productivity
Accomplish goals faster
Take your career to the next level
Overcome barriers to success
Become a better communicator
Improve your leadership skills
Get better results from the people you manage
Make better decisions
Personal Growth
Gain alignment between your values and your actions
Increase your self-awareness
Improve your relationships
Develop better work-life balance
Increase personal satisfaction
Eliminate self-limiting behavior and thinking
Achieve your “personal best”
Successful people work with a coach. Even those at the top – star athletes,
performing artists, executives, government officials – still use coaches.
Why? Because they are on a journey of continuous self-improvement.
The successful coaching client is open-minded, willing to change and to
receive feedback. He or she completes assignments, communicates openly and
honestly and accepts personal responsibility and accountability.
The most important thing to remember about coaching is that it is a process,
one that is guaranteed to take you to the next level of success and
fulfillment. This process consists of the following 4 phases:
Assessing
Conduct initial interview (face-to-face or telephone)
Complete assessment tools as appropriate
Identify challenges and opportunities
Goal-Setting
Determine desired outcomes
Set priorities
Taking Action
Schedule coaching sessions
Complete assignments and action items between sessions
Measuring
Evaluate outcomes
Celebrate successes
The frequency and length of the coaching sessions depends on your needs,
goals, financial resources, and time commitment. The average coaching
partnership lasts 3 to 6 months.
We conduct coaching sessions face-to-face and/or on the telephone. Coaching
sessions are conducted at times that are mutually convenient, day or
evening, any day of the week. For clients who prefer face-to-face sessions,
we will meet at either the client’s office or ours – it’s your choice.
